SkyTeam Airline Alliance Management Coöperatie U.A. (“SkyTeam”) is aware that protecting the individual’s privacy on the Internet is crucial to the future of how we, as a global alliance, can continue to communicate effectively together in a digital world. We have created this Privacy Statement to demonstrate our firm commitment to the individual’s right to data protection and privacy – specifically with regards to our online internal newsletter (“InTouch”). This Privacy Statement outlines how we handle information that can be used to directly or indirectly identify an individual (“Personal Data”).

All data collected to provide you with our services is in particular being processed in accordance with the Dutch Personal Data Protection Act. As data controller for the processing of your personal data collected through the SkyTeam website and applications, SkyTeam has notified such processing of your personal data to the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens) under number 1541232. This report is available to the public and can be accessed over the internet at https://www.collegebeschermingpersoonsgegevens.nl/asp/orsearch.asp.

This Privacy Policy applies to all processing of your personal data by or on behalf of SkyTeam and informs you on our privacy practices and security measures concerning the personal data we may collect from you when you use InTouch. We may modify this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post any changes on this website, so please check regularly for the most recent version of our Privacy Policy.

1 What personal data do we process?

When you use InTouch we may collect personal data from you. This data may be provided by yourself, for example, when you register yourself on our website, or when you provide your data for a survey or competition, or when you contact us for any other reason. Your data regarding the use of our website may also be collected automatically.

The personal data that we collect may include:

Identifying information like your name, title, gender, date of birth and nationality.

Contact information like your email address, business phone number(s) and contact preferences. Corporate details, such as your job title, employer or affiliation, and your participation in events. Any correspondence with you, opt-in’s, opt-out’s and objections. And information about your visits to our website, such as your IP address, Internet service provider, browser type, operating system, pages accessed on our website, date and time of access, and referring mailer.

We may also process certain personal data by the use of (third party) cookies in time. More information on the cookies used via this website will be made available in a separate cookie policy [currently not applicable to In Touch].

2 For what purposes do we collect your personal data?

We primarily collect and use your data to inform you of SkyTeam news, share project updates, and to maintain contact with you. Without your personal data, it will unfortunately not be possible for us  to provide you with this useful information. Your data is furthermore used for analyzing and optimizing our website and your experience of InTouch. SkyTeam may anonymize your data for such analysis. Your personal data will not be used for any purposes other than the purposes described above.

3 Who has access to your personal data?

Your personal data may be accessed by our employees or other persons engaged on our behalf on a need-to-know basis only, such as administrative personnel. In addition, for the purposes described above only, we may share your information with the SkyTeam Member Airlines and trusted third party service providers performing services on our behalf. We require our service providers to implement strict security measures and handle the data with an equal level of strict confidentiality to protect your data privacy. Further, these recipients may be located in countries outside the European Economic Area, in which case we will ensure that any additional legal requirements for such data transfer are met. We will not disclose your personal information to any other third parties, unless we believe that disclosure is necessary: (a) in order to comply with legal requirements; or (b) to enforce this Privacy Policy.

4 How do we protect your personal data?

SkyTeam uses appropriate security measures to protect your personal data against unauthorized access, loss, deletion, disclosure and improper use, and to maintain the accuracy and integrity of your data. These measures are reviewed regularly. Although we use our best efforts to protect and secure your personal information, we cannot guarantee this to be 100% secure. Consequently we cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to us or from our website.

5 How long will your personal data be retained?

We will process your personal data for as long as this is necessary for the purposes as stated in this Privacy Policy. Once you are no longer connected to InTouch, we may retain your personal up to two years in accordance with the applicable data protection laws, unless you have submitted a reasonable and valid request to delete your personal data.

6 How to exercise your rights?

If you have any query about our processing of your personal data, or if you would like to review, correct, change or delete any of your personal data processed by us, please contact us by using the contact details mentioned below.

If you receive InTouch mailings from us, and you no longer want to, you can deregister by sending a request to deregister to that same e-mail address or by using the deregister link in the relevant mailing.

6.3

Should you have a complaint on the processing of your personal data by SkyTeam you may also lodge a complaint at the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).
