SkyTeam CEO Patrick Roux looks ahead to 2025 and SkyTeam’s 25th Anniversary
Hear from SkyTeam CEO Patrick Roux as he discusses a big year for everyone at SkyTeam.Warm greetings from Amsterdam!
2025 is in full swing and what a big year it is for us all at SkyTeam. It is 25 years since our four founding members; Aeromexico, Air France, Delta Air Lines and Korean Air, met in New York on 22 June 2000 to form the SkyTeam Airline Alliance.
And what a 25 years it has been. SkyTeam has always placed the customer at the heart of what we do, with our founding promise being ‘Caring More About You’. And we are reinforcing our commitment to this with our new brand manifesto aptly titled ‘The Priority is You’.
It is also a big year for a number of our members with several important anniversaries taking place in 2025. Delta Air Lines, the oldest operating US airline and seventh oldest operating worldwide, turned 100 on 2 March. Vietnam Airlines, the flag carrier of Vietnam, will celebrate 30 years since the establishment of Vietnam Airlines Corporation on 27 May. Middle East Airlines, the flag carrier of Lebanon, will reach 80 years since their foundation on 31 May. Aerolíneas Argentinas, the flag carrier and largest airline of Argentina, will reach 75 years of operations on 7 December.
TAROM, Romania’s flag carrier and oldest operating airline, and Vietnam Airlines will also celebrate 15 years since joining SkyTeam in June, whilst our newest member SAS, national airline of Denmark, Norway and Sweden, will celebrate their 1-year anniversary of joining SkyTeam in September.
Korean Air have also had a busy start to the year, with their acquisition of Asiana being the catalyst behind launching their new corporate identity.
So like I said, a big year for us all! We will be in touch with all our members to share details around our celebrations so keep an eye out!
Thank you once again for your continued support and I look forward to celebrating these important achievements and milestones with you throughout 2025!
Warm regards,
Patrick Roux, CEO SkyTeam
