Clues, cake and anniversary celebrations
Where can you find apple cake with whipped cream, space probes, a full-scale model of Schiphol’s first terminal building and the last Boeing 747-200 to ever take flight? At SkyTeam’s 18th anniversary celebrations at the Aviodrome museum in the Netherlands, of course!
The day was designed to celebrate the alliance’s achievements and provide a fitting send-off for our outgoing CEO Perry Cantarutti, who had attendees smiling as he brought his three-year journey at the helm of the alliance to life.
The itinerary was filled with fun surprises – including the event location, which was kept top-secret until the last minute.
Activities included a quiz that saw teams exploring their surroundings in search of answers. Over 100 aircraft and years of aviation history tested the participants’ knowledge of all things flight and SkyTeam.
The last clue led attendees to the cargo compartment of the retired ‘Jumbo Jet’, which had been transformed into a theatre where Perry delivered his final speech about his time as CEO. He spoke about some of the pivotal projects he brought into fruition and shared some of his most memorable – and funniest – moments from his time with SkyTeam.
And what better way to end the day than with a barbecue in the officers’ mess? InTouch is delighted to report everyone had a great day – and there was not a burnt Rookworst (Dutch sausage) in sight.
