Uptick in buyers attend annual SkyTeam-sponsored event in Mexico City

Every year, hundreds of people head to Mexico City for the Global Business Travel Association (GBTA) Mexico Conference.

This year’s special gathering of leaders from the Latin American business travel community took place on April 3 and 4.

And as one of the main event sponsors, SkyTeam was there in force, with CEO Patrick Roux and Director of Sales Wim Iserief hosting a lunch on the first day for nearly 500 attendees.

And almost half (48%) of the lunch attendees were buyers – a significant increase from the 35%-40% seen in previous years.

Patrick said: “GBTA Mexico is the most important event for the corporate travel and meetings industry in the region, so it was great to be there in person along with representatives from our member airlines, growing our network and making new connections.

“Meeting buyers helps us understand what they need and how SkyTeam can answer those needs, so it was great to have almost 250 buyers at our lunch event.”

After lunch Patrick took to the main stage where he addressed the audience in Spanish on technology and business travel, highlighting SkyTeam’s Digital Spine, as well as successes and achievements on Seamless Check-in and FLIFO. He also introduced SkyTeam’s Future Lab initiatives to the audience.

He was also interviewed by GBTA CEO Suzanne Neufang during a morning broadcasting session, where they discussed key SkyTeam successes, future steps in optimizing customer experience, and SkyTeam’s efforts to promote more responsible travel.

“GBTA CEO Suzanne Neufang also expressed interest in collaborating with the Future Lab, particularly regarding developments in corporate travel behavior, which was a great achievement for SkyTeam and our members,” Patrick added.

In addition to SkyTeam’s sponsorship, Aeromexico, Delta Air Lines, and Air France/KLM showcased their offerings at the GBTA Expo, joined by representatives from Korean Air and Air Europa.
