SkyTeam’s FLIFO technology is ready to bring benefits to more customers and member airlines

More customers and member airlines set to enjoy an enhanced experience thanks to SkyTeam FLIFO Flight Information

After the successful delivery of FLIFO data to Air France KLM and China Eastern, SkyTeam developed an alternate pull solution delivery method using API, which was piloted last year by Korean Air.

Now all SkyTeam’s members can now choose from two solutions to integrate FLIFO into their digital applications, either by consuming flight status API or by enabling receiving of flight status notifications.

FLIFO helps customers access real-time flight status information for all SkyTeam flights on the digital channels of their preferred member airline. This enhances the customer experience by enabling them to get the information they need, using the tools and channels they’re familiar with.

And by sharing operational flight information for all member airlines, SkyTeam enables marketing carriers to share codeshare and interline flight information via the airline’s digital channels. So, it’s easy to see the status of flights at any point along a route.

SkyTeam’s Head of Digital & Information Technology Christian Oberlé said: “Thanks to FLIFO, mixed-metal travelers can now search for their flight with either marketing flight number or operating flight number, or by simply providing their origin and destination airport codes.

“Having easily accessible flight status information for all segments of their journey enhances the customer experience and also benefits our members through fewer misconnections, lower service recovery costs and less agent contact.

“SkyTeam is now progressing plans to extend the FLIFO database with non-member airline data, meaning even more travelers will benefit from this innovative SkyTeam product.”
