SkyTeam paves the way for SkyCleared expansion
The scope of the SkyCleared common boarding pass indicator is being widened beyond COVID-19 documentation.SkyCleared expansion set to make journeys even more seamless
When SkyCleared was launched in 2022, it enhanced the passenger journey while also making things easier and more seamless for member airline staff.
The common boarding pass indicator provided travelers with peace of mind that they were cleared for all COVID-19 travel requirements for their journey, and helped reduce redundant checks along the way.
Now SkyCleared’s scope has been broadened to include all health requirements, with work underway to expand it to other documents, including visa and immigration documentation.
A working group including member airline representatives has been established to define conditions for capturing full validation of documentation.
This will include an exploration of how SkyCleared will work with off-airport validation technologies, which are quickly becoming the new post-pandemic standard.
In April, Air Europa is set to become the first member to expand the role of SkyCleared as an outcome of their digital off-airport validation proposition, powered by Amadeus.
The tool’s AI will check all travel documentation for a passenger’s itinerary based on their nationality, residence and age.
