Bringing you up to date with news from our lounges
With our two newest lounges at Istanbul New Airport and Santiago International Airport well on their way to opening their doors, and the refurbishment of our lounge at Dubai International Airport nearing completion, we thought there’d be no better time to bring you up to date on the latest news from SkyTeam’s network of branded lounges.Dubai International Airport
We are pleased to announce that all major changes in the refurbishment have now been completed, with the lounge expected to be fully finished in September.
The project has included upgrades to the kids’ room, TV room, bar, showers and furniture, as well as the addition of new partitions to enhance privacy in the seating area, new paint and artwork to add warmth, and the installation of a new sound system.
The installation of the airline mosaic at reception and the black and white photos in the TV room will bring the refurbishment process to a close.
Dubai Airports recently gave the go-ahead to remove the hoarding, and to submit the snag list along with the timelines.
Sydney Airport
Another great development comes from our Sydney lounge, where satisfaction scores have seen a big increase year-on-year – rising from 48% in 2018 to 58% in July 2019.
This follows consistent dedication and effort from the team at Sydney Airport to continually improve the lounge experience for customers, resulting in a newly refurbished kitchen area, updated menus and drinks selection, and successful operational leadership. Well done to everyone involved!
New lounges
As is often the case in construction projects, we have encountered some delays to the opening of our two new lounges, at Istanbul Airport and Santiago International Airport.
Istanbul New Airport
We have made positive progress with our Istanbul lounge in the last month and now expect the opening to be imminent, with an estimated public opening date in October 2019.
It will be SkyTeam’s seventh branded lounge.
Santiago International Airport
We are currently waiting for a confirmed date for the release of the lounge space, which we’re anticipating will be sometime next month. Based on the time needed for construction, it is estimated that the opening for the lounge will take place in Q1, 2020.
The Santiago lounge will be SkyTeam’s first in South America, and eighth branded lounge worldwide.
