Outstanding dedication earns Rohan Patell the Inspirational Individual Award

Flight delays, cancellations and diversions are an unavoidable fact of life within our industry, but that doesn’t mean passengers should have to put up with the frustrations they can cause.

SkyTeam Rebooking tackles the issue head-on to deliver a more seamless service to customers, even if their journey doesn’t go to plan.

The industry-leading innovation enables frontline agents of SkyTeam’s 20 member airlines to rebook customers onto another member’s flights using their own reservation platform.

This overcomes the complexity of connecting different reservation systems, meaning customers affected by disruptions can head to a SkyTeam member airline’s ticket or transfer desk and be rebooked onto the next available SkyTeam flight.

After more than five years of development, SkyTeam Rebooking is now live at the majority of SkyTeam hubs – and KLM’s Rohan Patell has been on board since day one.

“Rohan has been instrumental in guiding the SkyTeam Rebooking project from its inception. His knowledge share has been invaluable and helped to shape the project through all its phases to a successful realization in 2018,” said Pam Aylward SkyTeam Rebooking project leader.

From supporting and leading implementation activities to working with colleagues to ensure seamless training for SkyTeam Rebooking users, Rohan has demonstrated dedication and outstanding collaboration.

His willingness to go above and beyond saw him receive multiple nominations in the MyTeam Awards.

“From Nairobi to Sao Paulo, to New York and beyond, Rohan has helped make Rebooking work – not just for AFKL but for all SkyTeam members and their customers,” said SkyTeam’s Georgeann Eyler, Manager Learning & Development.

Special mentions also go to Sonaira Zanella Polimeno and Federico Scarcella, both from Aerolineas Argentina, who were the runners-up in this hard-fought category.

Sonaira was recognized for bringing a new and different offering to the Brazil market, particularly her collaboration with the third sector that helped to deliver meaningful benefits by forging a link between businesses and community projects.

Federico was recognized for leading the implementation of SkyTeam Rebooking, delivering great results by coordinating numerous areas across Aerolineas, testing functionality with fellow SkyTeam members and providing training support to multiple airlines.

The judges said the Inspiration Individual Award was “a very tough category” to select a winner. They added:

“We hope to see some of these people nominated again.”
