Making air travel more sustainable, increasing gender diversity, and powering the safest and most seamless customer experience of any global airline alliance are just three of the initiatives that are currently exciting SkyTeam CEO Kristin Colville.

And it is thanks to the shared commitment of our member airlines that these initiatives will become a reality over the coming months.

Kristin said: “I’m proud of how SkyTeam members work together for the greater good. From the health safety of our customers and employees and creating seamless connectivity, to diversity and preserving the world for travelers to come, we are aligned on effecting industry change.

“The skies look brighter for 2022. As we build back, SkyTeam airlines are doing so with a focus on making our recovery safer and more seamless for our customers, our employees and the world we connect.”

Kristin said she was excited about The Sustainable Flight Challenge, inspired by KLM, and supported by SkyTeam airlines’ commitment to finding new and innovative ways to reduce aviation’s environmental impact.

And having become the first airline alliance to unanimously sign up to IATA’s 25by2025 initiative, Kristin said she was proud of how SkyTeam is leading the way in increasing gender diversity and making aviation a career of choice for the next generation of young women.

“I look forward to the start of the SkyTeam RISE Female Leadership Program in 2022 that will drive career development for female leaders within our member airlines,” she added.

Looking back on what was achieved across SkyTeam in 2021, Kristin praised members for their hard work and combined efforts that mean customers are now enjoying one of the safest and most seamless journeys of any global alliance.

“Early last year, our industry-first health safety and hygiene pledge, SkyCare&Protect, was boosted from 15 to 22 measures, using technology developed by SkyTeam to make international travel safer and easier. New tools included a Testing Labs Locator that was developed in only 14 days, enabling customers to find and book the right COVID tests in more than 17K destinations worldwide.”

And the achievements don’t stop there as this year we and our member airlines will be rolling out a seamless digital check-in experience across SkyTeam.

Kristin said: “This will enable customers flying with multiple airlines to obtain their boarding passes via a single airline’s app or website – saving hundreds of thousands of our customers from having to wait in line.”
