Today we celebrate 23 years of connecting the world with our SkyTeam members. Since June 2000, SkyTeam and our member airlines have been working together to build and support a thriving alliance offering customers more than 1,080 destinations and 750+ lounges in 180+ countries.

We love all the ‘firsts’ we have achieved together – SkyPriority, SkyCare&Protect, SkyTeam Rebooking and The Sustainable Flight Challenge to name just a few. And what excites us right now is working every day to be a leading contributor to truly advancing travel, to mastering cocreation to empower SkyTeam members and partners to deliver the most seamless, innovative, and sustainable experiences to customers worldwide.

Twenty-three years after we started, the world around us is changing at lightning speed – and it’s showing no signs of slowing down. Neither are we! SkyTeam’s passion is stronger than ever to make true on our promise of ‘Caring more about you’ – to let advanced travelers recognize and experience SkyTeam as the most customer-centric alliance, and to anticipate and fulfill their extended expectations.

We’ve developed a fresh new strategic platform and way of working internally and with member airline executives to fortify alliance foundations and focus with pinpoint precision on the future. It’s called BRIGHT: Building a Resilient, Innovative, Green, Holistic (Sky)Team.

Our new SkyTeam Chairman, Andrés Conesa of Aeromexico, will be on hand to help guide our strategic focus. Andrés was endorsed by the SkyTeam Alliance Board of CEOs at the beginning of June to follow Walter Cho of Korean Air, who served as Chairman since 2019.

To celebrate our anniversary, we’re excited to share highlights from our BRIGHT transformation plan with you. Each of these projects will have a member airline Executive Sponsor to help shape them to meet airline needs, and to keep the momentum going.
