This year, for the first time, airlines beyond SkyTeam’s circle of friends and family are invited to get involved. And in another dramatic first for 2024, this year focuses on the scaling and adoption of sustainable practices across participants’ organizations, as well as efforts on their showcase flight.
Eighteen awards are up for grabs in three categories – Advancing Adoption, Boosting Collaboration, Empowering Sustainability – to acknowledge how participants adopt and scale their sustainability efforts.
SkyTeam’s Head of Marketing & Sustainability Evgenia Starkova said: “The Sustainable Flight Challenge is an important step toward sharing and adopting a multitude of sustainability solutions and insights across the wider industry.
“It is inspiring to see so many fantastic ideas and innovations emerge as a result of TSFC, and I’m looking forward to seeing the advancements this year’s participants achieve as we shift toward adoption of solutions at scale to help make our industry more sustainable.”
Airlines which took part in TSFC 2023 have until 29 February to confirm their participation in this year’s Challenge. Those looking to get involved for the first time have until 29 March to confirm their participation.
The deadline for baseline assessments and sharing of plans is also 29 March. The working period will take place between 1 April and 28 October, while the flight window runs from 1 August until 28 October.
This year’s Expert Panel will include independent experts from the Royal Netherlands Aerospace Centre and PA Consulting Group. They will be evaluating submissions between 1 November and 15 December along with a Jury of distinguished sustainability experts.
