China Southern to leave SkyTeam

SkyTeam and China Southern have reached an amicable agreement that will see the airline leave the alliance next year.
Date 26 November 2018

China Southern membership will officially expire on January 1, 2019, however, we will continue to work closely with the airline over the next 12 months to ensure a seamless transition for customers and partners.

A working group is being set up by SAAM to manage the transition process. Over the coming weeks, we will be providing updates and further details on key areas, including customer benefits, branding, loyalty, and lounges.

SkyTeam offers more than 1,000 destinations across 170 countries, and with our members, we continue to operate a very comprehensive network in China.

We’re confident our focus on technology and the customer experience – combined with our strong integrated global network – will maintain SkyTeam’s position as a leading airline alliance.

Kristin Colvile, SkyTeam CEO, said:

“Network has always been the foundation of SkyTeam.

“Our new value proposition retains that strong integrated network and combines it with a continued focus on improving customer experience through technology.

“China Southern has been a valued member of SkyTeam. We respect its decision and wish it well.”
