COVID-19 health credential checks are simpler and more straightforward with SKYCLEARED

SkyTeam reaches another advanced technology milestone to enhance the customer experience

Customers are benefitting from only needing their COVID-19 health documents validated once for their entire itinerary, thanks to the launch of SKYCLEARED.

SKYCLEARED is a common boarding pass indicator that shows a customer complies with all COVID-19 travel requirements for their journey and is authorized to fly.

The innovation from SkyTeam provides reassurance to customers and enables them to have their health documents validated at the first touchpoint on their journey. At this point, they receive boarding passes featuring the SKYCLEARED indicator, which signals that their COVID-19 travel documents have been checked and verified for their entire itinerary – including destination and transfer requirements.

This benefits airlines by saving time and eliminating the need for further checks by frontline airline employees – including at boarding.

The SKYCLEARED indicator has already started appearing on eligible customers’ boarding passes for same-carrier nonstop and connecting itineraries with a number of our member airlines.

The rollout will continue across all 18 member airlines while some members have expanded its scope to include multi-carrier trips.

“SKYCLEARED is another example of SkyTeam’s agility when it comes to powering a safer, touchless and more seamless experience for customers by using technology to reduce queues and streamline procedures,” said SkyTeam CEO Kristin Colvile.

“SkyTeam has long advocated for clarity around testing and health credentials and SKYCLEARED makes verification easier, helping minimize travel stress and uncertainty for customers, while making the process of validation faster and more straightforward for airlines.”
