Setting the standards that support member airlines to make a positive impact.
Discover how SkyTeam’s Sustainability Standards are guiding our path to offering the most seamless and responsible travel experience of any global airline alliance. How SkyTeam’s Sustainability Standards are raising the bar
We’re passionate about doing more to reduce our carbon emissions and protect the world we connect. Our member airlines are already working side-by-side to share knowledge and best practices to reduce air travel’s impact on the environment.
SkyTeam’s Sustainability Standards are designed to guide our sustainability journey and make sure we achieve our ambition to innovate and pursue a more sustainable operating model.
These nine key standards are applicable to all SkyTeam members. They focus our collective efforts towards six of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs):
- Gender equality
- Affordable and clean energy
- Decent work and economic growth
- Industry, innovation and infrastructure
- Responsible consumption and production
- Climate action
SkyTeam Sustainability Director Paul Zissermann said: “The UNSDGs provide a blueprint for a better future for everyone. We are aligning our efforts with the key UNSDGs that we believe will help us make the greatest impact in embedding sustainability principles into all aspects of our operations.
“Our member airlines are passionate about sustainability, which is why these standards set the bar high in terms of targets and ambitions. One day, we envisage a future where meeting these standards will be a minimum requirement for being a member of the SkyTeam alliance.”
SkyTeam’s Sustainability Standards are currently being reviewed together with members to reach consensus on targets, ambitions and timeframes. Once agreed, SkyTeam airlines will regularly share data on each standard, so that progress can be tracked across the alliance.
