SkyTeam to strengthen its advocacy role following a year of significant achievements for members and the airline industry

SkyTeam sets out plan of action to enhance value for members by strengthening advocacy role
Date 19 May 2021

We have always been committed to supporting our members by informing, educating and lobbying for change, and during these unprecedented times, this is now arguably more important than ever.

Over the past year we have achieved significant wins for our members, including:

  • Supporting VN in their quest for financial support from the Vietnamese Government
  • Cooperating with IATA, ICAO and ATAG to sustain an industry restart
  • Delivering cost savings in the areas of slots, landing charges, overflight fees, ground handling, lounges, and parking by proactively reaching out to Departments of Transportation, Trade Associations, Civil Aviation Authorities, and airports.

We have also teamed up with Star Alliance and oneworld to deliver major accomplishments that benefit both our members and the industry as a whole, including:

  • Taking measures to restore confidence among passengers and governments
  • Campaigning for a global standard for testing
  • Supporting the Worldwide Airport Slot Board in slot relief measures.

As part of our members’ advocacy strategy, we are now mapping out how we can strengthen our advocacy role in 2021 to continue delivering meaningful results across our alliance.

The four key areas we are developing action plans around for the forthcoming year are Health & Safety, Sustainability, Diversity and Further Engagement.
