SkyTeam Works With Member Airlines to Help Make Global Adoption of Digital COVID Health Credentials a Reality

SkyTeam Members Helping to Create a Frictionless and COVID-Free Travel Experience
Date 19 May 2021

COVID travel health requirements have reshaped the customer journey like never before.

SkyTeam’s Health Advisory Group, which was set up to support and harmonize the new journey, has been working hard to help members understand what they need to do to make this new customer journey safe and seamless.

Global adoption of digital COVID health credentials – to prove a passenger has tested negative for COVID-19, been vaccinated, or has recovered – is fast being regarded as essential to get our industry back to the skies.

The majority of our members have now announced or are working towards agreements with digital COVID health credential providers, to implement the technology required, trial their products and understand the customer benefit and operational impact. These include Kenya Airways, Korean Air and Vietnam Airlines with IATA Travel Pass; Air France and Alitalia with AOKpass; and Delta with TrustAssure.

With the current system of country-by-country rules adding confusion and complexity to the mix, SkyTeam is supporting the industry in lobbying international governments to introduce common standards that would support a move towards a frictionless travel experience.
