Customer experience keeps getting better thanks to SkyTeam FLIFO Flight Information.
FLIFO helps customers access real-time flight status information for all SkyTeam flights on the digital channels of their preferred member airline. This enhances the customer experience by enabling them to get the information they need, using the tools and channels they’re familiar with.
And by sharing operational flight information for all member airlines, SkyTeam enables marketing carriers to share codeshare and interline flight information via the airline’s digital channels. So, it’s easy to see the status of flights at any point along a route.
SkyTeam’s Head of Digital & Information Technology Christian Oberlé said: “With flight status information of all segments available to the customer, airlines also benefit from fewer misconnections, lower service recovery costs and less agent contact. And naturally, this enhances the customer experience, which is great.”
After the successful delivery of FLIFO data to Air France KLM and China Eastern, SkyTeam has also developed an alternate pull solution delivery method for airlines using API.
This ‘request/reply’ API can be used by member airlines to receive near real-time flight status information for codeshare and interline flights. The API is fast, responsive, lightweight and uses industry standard AIDX specification for Information Data Exchange.
Korean Air is the pilot airline for the Flight Status API. Testing is now in progress, and it is expected to go live by Q4 2023.
